Mattel Television, initially launched as Mattel Creations on March 31, 2016, was the toy company's dedicated television production arm, unifying and revamping its entertainment business. In February 2019, it was reorganized and rebranded under executive Adam Bonnett, strategically shifting its focus towards producing streaming content for platforms like YouTube and Netflix. The division engaged in significant partnerships, including a 2015 co-production pact with DHX Media (now WildBrain) for shows such as "Bob the Builder," and secured a 7-year global SVOD deal with Universal Pictures in October 2016 for the Barbie film library.
Mattel Television also successfully revived major franchises, notably announcing the return of "Monster High" in February 2021 with new animated and live-action projects. Its operations are set to conclude on June 2, 2025, when it will merge with Mattel Films to form a new combined entity, Mattel Studios, with Robbie Brenner appointed as its head.
