The Journal of Political Philosophy (JPP) is a leading quarterly academic journal dedicated to all aspects of political philosophy. It faced significant controversy when it published three articles on Black Lives Matter, all authored by white academics, drawing criticism from Yale professor Christopher Lebron regarding the lack of diverse voices. Although some noted JPP had published on race and was co-founded by Chandran Kukathas (a philosopher of color), the editors issued an apology and pledged to diversify its editorial board and actively seek non-white authors. Further turbulence occurred in April 2023 when publisher Wiley-Blackwell fired editor Robert Goodin, prompting the resignation of several prominent associate editors and board members, including Kwame Anthony Appiah. In protest, these former editors announced the formation of a new journal, Political Philosophy.
