2025–2027 World Test Championship

The 2025–2027 ICC World Test Championship is the fourth edition of the premier Test cricket tournament, which kicked off on 17 June 2025 with a match between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh at Galle International Stadium and is scheduled to conclude with the final at The Oval on 13 June 2027. The league stage features 27 series and 71 matches, with each of the nine participating teams—Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, and the West Indies—playing six series (three home, three away), while Afghanistan, Ireland, and Zimbabwe are excluded. The points system awards 12 points for a win, 6 for a tie, 4 for a draw, and 0 for a loss, with over-rate penalties, and teams are ranked by the percentage of points won rather than raw totals. The schedule, announced by the ICC in August 2022 as part of the Future Tours Programme, includes iconic series such as The Ashes, the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, and the Frank Worrell Trophy, ensuring high-stakes rivalries throughout the cycle. The top two teams on the points table will advance to the final, making every series crucial in the race for the championship title.
