"Britain's Best Sitcom" was a significant BBC Two documentary series and nationwide opinion poll that aired from January to March 2004, aiming to find the UK's favourite British situation comedy. The campaign launched in August 2003, initially asking viewers to vote for their top choices from a BBC-curated list of 100 sitcoms, narrowing the field to a top 50.

Hosted by Jonathan Ross, the 12-episode series then showcased the top contenders, with individual episodes dedicated to the final ten. During these episodes, different celebrity advocates passionately argued for their chosen sitcom, encouraging further public voting via phone, text, and online. Ultimately, in a live finale on 27 March 2004, the iconic comedy Only Fools and Horses was officially crowned Britain's Best Sitcom, a testament to its enduring popularity.
