Kesha Rose Sebert (born March 1, 1987), known professionally as Kesha (stylized as Ke$ha until 2014), is an American singer-songwriter who skyrocketed to fame with her 2009 debut single "Tik Tok," one of the best-selling digital singles in history. Raised in Nashville by her songwriter mother Pebe Sebert after moving there in 1991, she dropped out of high school at 17 to pursue music and went on to release two number-one albums, Animal (2010) and Rainbow (2017), alongside a string of top-ten hits like "We R Who We R" and "Die Young." Her career was halted for years by a bitter legal dispute with producer Dr. Luke, whom she accused of physical, sexual, and emotional abuse in a 2014 lawsuit; the case was finally settled out of court in June 2023. After completing her contractual obligations, she released Gag Order (2023) and launched her first independent album, Period (2025), under her own label. A versatile talent, Kesha has also written songs for artists such as Britney Spears, Ariana Grande, and Miley Cyrus, and was ranked the 26th top artist of the 2010s by Billboard.
