Indiana Fever

The Indiana Fever, founded in 2000 and owned by Herb Simon, are a professional women's basketball team in Indianapolis, famously launched with the slogan "In 49 states it's just basketball, but this is Indiana." The franchise reached the WNBA Finals in 2009 and 2015 but captured its only championship in 2012, beating the Minnesota Lynx 3–1, with Tamika Catchings named Finals MVP. Catchings, drafted in 2001, missed her rookie year with an ACL tear but returned in 2002 to win Rookie of the Year and lead the team to its first playoff appearance. After a rough 9–23 debut season, the team broke through in 2005 with a 21–13 record and their first playoff series win, sweeping the New York Liberty. With 14 playoff appearances in 25 seasons, the Fever's legacy includes stars like Katie Douglas, Aliyah Boston, and current phenom Caitlin Clark, making them a cornerstone of Indiana's basketball culture.
