Madison Keys (born February 17, 1995) is an American tennis player who has reached a career-high ranking of world No. 5 and won 11 career singles titles, including her first Major at the 2025 Australian Open. Inspired by watching Venus Williams on TV at age four, she turned professional on her 14th birthday and later trained at the Evert Tennis Academy in Florida. She broke through at the 2015 Australian Open as a teenager, debuted in the top 10 in 2016 (the first American woman since Serena Williams in 1999), and reached the 2017 US Open final, where she lost to Sloane Stephens. After years of injury struggles, she captured her first Grand Slam at the 2025 Australian Open, defeating world No. 2 Iga Świątek and world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka in the semifinal and final, respectively. Known for her fast serve and powerful forehand, Keys has won titles on all surfaces and reached the quarterfinals at every major, solidifying her as a leader of American tennis.
