The Kavli Institute for Cosmology, Cambridge (KICC) is a prominent research center established through a collaboration between the University of Cambridge and the Kavli Foundation, with their agreement reached in August 2006. Operated jointly by Cambridge's Institute of Astronomy and the Cavendish Astrophysics Group, KICC officially began operations in October 2008 with the appointment of its first Fellows. Its purpose-built facility was formally opened on November 18, 2009, by Prince Philip and Fred Kavli.

Under the current leadership of director Anthony Challinor, KICC researchers actively contribute to numerous international cosmological projects, including the James Webb Space Telescope, the Dark Energy Survey, and the Planck cosmological survey. The Institute also offers prestigious Kavli Fellowships to foster outstanding young scientists, many of whom have become leading researchers worldwide, solidifying KICC's significant impact on advancing our understanding of the universe.
