The Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), a non-profit organization founded in December 1998 by pioneers including Ritu Kumar and Tarun Tahiliani, is dedicated to promoting India's fashion industry. Based in New Delhi and currently led by Sunil Sethi, FDCI organizes major events such as India Fashion Week, India Men's Week, and the Global India Couture Week.

The council actively collaborates with partners like Vogue, establishing initiatives such as the Vogue Fashion Fund, which offers cash prizes and mentorship to emerging designers. In 2013, FDCI partnered with the Cotton Council International for the "Let's Design" reality show, and its Amazon India Fashion Week 2018 showcased top designers while emphasizing sustainable fashion and inclusivity.

Beyond promoting design, FDCI is deeply involved in charitable initiatives. It organizes annual designer sales, with a portion of proceeds benefiting various trusts and disaster relief funds. Notably, in 2010, the "Art on Wheels" event, featuring hand-painted auto-rickshaws by renowned artists, raised funds for educational and community empowerment programs.
