Rory Kennedy (born December 12, 1968) is an American documentary filmmaker known for tackling pressing social issues such as addiction, nuclear power, and the politics of the Mexican border fence. She is the youngest child of Robert F. Kennedy and Ethel Kennedy, born six months after her father's assassination in 1968. After graduating from Brown University, she co-founded production companies like May Day Media and Moxie Firecracker Films to produce socially conscious documentaries. Her notable works include American Hollow (1999), the Emmy-nominated Pandemic: Facing AIDS (2003), and A Boy's Life (2004), which have aired on networks like HBO. Her life has also been marked by personal tragedy, including the drug overdose of her brother David and the 1997 fatal skiing accident of her brother Michael, whom she tried to resuscitate.
