Toyota Camry

The Toyota Camry, introduced in 1982, is one of the best-selling automobiles of all time, with over 22 million units sold worldwide by 2026. Its name derives from the Japanese word kanmuri (meaning "crown"), continuing Toyota's tradition of crown-themed names like the Crown, Corona, and Corolla. Originally a compact car, the Camry grew to mid-size in the 1990s, during which Toyota sold both narrow-body versions (for Japan) and wider international models simultaneously. Over its history, the Camry spawned several rebadged siblings, including the Toyota Vista in Japan, the Scepter, the Camry Solara coupé, and the Camry Gracia wagon, while the Aurion served as a donor for Asian-market variants. The model has evolved through numerous generations (from V10 to XV50), with the latest versions positioned above the Corolla and below the Avalon or Crown in various markets. Today, the Camry remains a global "world car" for Toyota, second only to the Corolla in that designation.
