Gina Carano

Gina Carano (born April 16, 1982) is an American actress and mixed martial artist who rose to fame as the "face of women's MMA" during her 2006–2009 career, compiling a 7–1 record and making history with Cris Cyborg as the first women to headline a major MMA event in 2009. After retiring following her first professional loss to Cyborg, she is scheduled to return to competition in 2026 for a highly anticipated bout against Ronda Rousey. Carano transitioned to Hollywood with lead roles in Haywire (2011), Fast & Furious 6 (2013), and Deadpool (2016), but gained her most recognizable role as Cara Dune in the Disney+ series The Mandalorian (2019–2020). She was fired from the series in 2021, leading her to file a wrongful termination lawsuit against Disney in 2024, which the company settled the following year. Raised in Las Vegas as the daughter of a casino executive and former professional football player, she excelled in sports early on—leading her high school basketball team to a state title—before majoring in psychology in college. Her MMA journey began with a strong Muay Thai background (12–1–1 record) and included pioneering bouts like the first sanctioned female MMA fight in Nevada and the first televised women's fight on Showtime.
