Amplify: Curriculum and Assessment Company

Amplify, founded in 2012, provides data-driven assessment and curriculum for K-12 education. Built on the foundation of Wireless Generation, acquired by News Corp in 2010, Amplify offers digital curriculum and assessment tools aligned with Common Core State Standards.

Products and Services

Amplify's student assessment tools include the mCLASS assessments, designed to track student progress in reading skills, and identify those at risk for dyslexia. The company also offers data analysis software to assist teachers in planning instruction and monitoring student progress.

Amplify's curriculum focuses on English language arts (ELA), science, and math. The ELA curriculum, Core Knowledge Language Arts (CKLA), emphasizes reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills, while the science curriculum aligns with Next Generation Science Standards. In 2022, Amplify acquired the Desmos math curriculum.

History and Funding

In 2015, News Corp sold Amplify to a management team backed by private investors, including Emerson Collective. In 2021 and 2023, Amplify secured significant funding to expand its product offerings. Today, Amplify serves approximately 4 million students and its science curriculum has been widely adopted in large urban districts.

Focus on Technology

Amplify has been at the forefront of integrating technology into education. Its Amplify Tablet, launched in 2013, provided a customized learning environment for K-12 students. The company has also partnered with the Core Knowledge Foundation to distribute its ELA curriculum materials and with Desmos for math curriculum. Amplify believes that technology should enhance the educational experience rather than operating as a separate learning environment.
