PTV Sports HD, operated by Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV), is a state-owned 24-hour sports channel established in 2012. Since its inception as a sports division of PTV in the 1970s, PTV Sports has played a significant role in broadcasting major sports events in Pakistan, including cricket, football, hockey, snooker, and tennis.

PTV Sports has faced challenges in securing broadcast rights for cricket events. In 2003, a dispute with Geo TV over Pakistan-New Zealand cricket broadcasting rights resulted in the first non-televised international cricket match in Pakistan since 1987. To ensure public access, the PCB now requires broadcasters to share the feed with PTV at a set price.

In 2012, PTV Sports was licensed as a stand-alone 24-hour sports channel. This licensing is part of PTV's efforts to expand and improve its sports coverage. PTV Sports currently holds the broadcasting rights for various domestic and international sports events, including the Pakistan Super League, ICC tournaments, and several international football leagues.

Despite financial constraints, PTV Sports remains committed to providing high-quality sports coverage to Pakistani audiences. Over the years, the channel has played an instrumental role in promoting sports in Pakistan and showcasing the nation's talented athletes.
