Sirindhorn International Institute of Technology (SIIT)

Established in 1992 within Thammasat University, SIIT is a research-focused academic institution that specializes in science, technology, and engineering education. It is self-administered and self-financed, with policies guided by representatives from Thammasat University, the Federation of Thai Industries, Nippon Keidanren, and appointed scholars.

Academic Excellence

SIIT boasts a faculty of doctoral degree holders with strong research experience. The institute consistently ranks highly in terms of research publications and impact factor per faculty member. It has been recognized as a research-intensive engineering school by academic peers.

Admission and Academics

Initially faced with difficulty recruiting high-scoring undergraduate students due to high tuition fees, SIIT has improved its recruitment situation, especially in computer, IT, and management-related majors. Nevertheless, it has a relatively low average admission score compared to other science and engineering programs in Thailand. The institute expels about 50% of entry students within the first or second year due to unqualified or unsatisfied academic competency.

Cooperative Partnerships

SIIT has established strong links with various universities worldwide, including the Asian Institute of Technology and a group of Japanese universities. It also collaborates with other Thai universities in the Joint Graduate School of Energy and Environment. Through these partnerships, faculty members and students participate in exchange programs, research projects, and internships.

Campuses and Research Centers

SIIT operates from two campuses in Pathum Thani, located near Thailand Science Park and other research centers. It has established two research centers and seven research units specializing in various areas of engineering, science, and innovation, including construction and maintenance technologies, biomedical engineering, and sustainable energy.
